A Christmas Story (DVD)Adapted from the hilarious memoir humorist Jean Shepherd In God We Trust: All Others pay cash, A Christmas Story has increased the ranks of the annual holiday list Classic Movies to claim its place among the elite of the genre sacred. If you've ever tried to lick a frozen telephone pole, or be in a ridiculous bunny outfit on Christmas morning, A Christmas Story is a comedy that does not want to miss

A Christmas Story focuses on a central character, fifth grader Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) and all-encompassing your search to receive a Daisy Brand Red Ryder BB-gun for Christmas, but I do not think he realizes that he could put an eye out with one of those things frustrate Ralphie at every turn are his mother (Melinda Dillon) and father (Darren McGavin) who seem absolutely beyond their young children sleep.

You can not come right out and say what he wants, Ralphie drops subtle hints around the house such as placing clipped-out magazine ads for the gun in the nightstand reading material parents. When pushed his true Christmas wish, Ralphie wants a brand loose Daisy Red Ryder BB gun, but his mother only answer, I want one of those. You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!

A Christmas Carol is full of memorable scenes and highlights that have helped build a cult around the life of a young man obsessed with Christmas that is surrounded by a group of varied cast eccentric friends and family. When you Ralphies father with pride in their ability to earn a daily contest, his proudly displays his prize in the front window of the family home, a lamp three feet long with a womans leg covered storage as its base. Embarrassed, the mother accidentally breaks Ralphies, sparking a war of words with her husband. Meanwhile, Ralphie dreams of saving the whole family with his Red Ryder BB Gun, thus earning the family's undying gratitude.

One of the best sequences in the film involves a family trip to the local department store Ralphie and his little brother Randy meet with the store Santa Clause near closing time. After a long wait, expanded to reach the front of the line to see Santa, Ralphie is so brimming with anticipation to tell Santa what he wants that he can not talk. So, Santa convinces Ralphie who wants a football. But before Santas helper can push Ralphie down the slide Pole, Ralphie drops his true desire, only to hear the response of Santas, You'll shoot your eye with that guy!

One of the best Christmas comedies ever made, but few come close to National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Carol is a classic memorable celebration the whole family can enjoy. Like Its A Wonderful Life, the film has only grown in popularity over the years since its release. The eternal nature of his subject lends itself well to annual holiday viewing, and remains one of the few to see the movies for the Christmas season
